Wow. This is great news. The always politically deft, and usually coy Mr. Abrams is practically saying he'll direct. He must have found the Captain's Chair pretty darn comfortable after all. Thank God. We just got the ole' girl resuscitated. Please Mr. Abrams, don't let her die on the gurney! Take her to the dance and you'll have a faithful, ever-growing legion of admirers to sing your praises.

By hook or by crook your movie has expressed most of the essence of Trek so well that it defies understanding by this longtime fan. You and your team had the talent and resources to realize Trek on the big screen in a way that is enormously entertaining and reverent without being precious, or worse, saccharine. That's a rare gift not seen in Trek directors since at least Mr. Meyer. But you have more clout, and you have more visibility.

If, as the transcript of this interview suggests, you've decided to OWN this franchise. To invest in it professionally. To take it to heart and to understand, not only why it's so revered by its fans and at least one president, but that it deserves to be revered at large, then nothing but accolades await you.
