it's a tricky one to figure out how to, like, fight evil wind!

Well, JJ, you are an intelligent man. Why do you have to come up with someone or something "evil" in the first place? Of course "evil wind" is hardly accessible, but nature is not about good vs. evil but about survival. That "supernova", that destroyed Future Romulus, wasn't "evil" and yet is caused great drama and consequences. V'Ger and the Whale Probe weren't evil, their perspectives on existance were just so different that they caused catastrophies that endangered humanity without even knowing about the nature of humanity.

You don't need another Khan clone to set up dramatic events. And IF you need another personified adversary, why not coming up with someone whose intents aren't straight-out villainous but someone who wants to create something good (an invention that could actually help mankind) and accidentally releases something threatening...
