I am an old timer who has a hard time letting go
By aquirius

I appreciate Mr. Nimoy's comments. I hope he is right. I have been watching the original 6 movies of Star Trek with deep nostalgia this past week. Star Trek, even the first six movies had meaning and relavent to the world. I read about the ST6 script changes, and how contraversial the dialog was. They intended Uhura to say "You wouldn't want your daughter to marry one would you?" But she refused, so it was nixed from the script. That was such a racially inflamitory comment. But the writers wanted it in the movie as a commentary of our prejudice.

Those were the days when Star Trek had substance. The Next Generation movies and Enterprise were all about fluff and some entries had a pro-war message.

This new movie looks like it is geared toward teenages, someone called it Star Trek 90210. I hope this is not the case. Even if the cast is very young, it can still prove to be really entertaining.

Just remember Gary Mitchell's anidote about his first days at the academy, the cadets told him, "Watch out for Lieutenant Kirk, in his class its think or sink."
Gary also called Kirk "a stack of books with legs". Kirk wasn't aimless, he was ambitious.
