Hopefully he said it with a wink
By sb2004

I assume Nimoy's initial response was said with a smile and a wink. I'd hate to think he was already tired of the Trek revival!

My view is Trek 11 will do one of two things: if it's successful, it will revitalize the franchise though hopefully they'll wait a while before going back to TV (it's still too soon after the crash-and-burn of the TV franchise), or it won't work and the franchise will fade into the background for a decade or so, being kept alive by the books, the fan productions, and the comics, until a revival occurs down the line.

It's doubtful that the third option - status quo - will happen in any event. Many Trek fans are simply playing "wait and see" right now while the general public doesn't seem to give a damn. If Paramount and Abrams are successful in getting the general public to give a damn, which is quite possible seeing as by the time Trek 11 comes out the new Harry Potter and Bond films will have run their course, then this will be a true relaunch. If only fans bother going to see it, and if they decide to hate it, then that'll be game over for Trek as a going concern for awhile.
