Dump Abrams... Get Davies
By seventhstar

If the next Star Trek film will be a reboot instead of a continuation, then clearly he does not have the imagination necessary for the job.

The existing Star Trek universe is so rich for creative exploration, whether a prequel, TOS era or post-Nemesis, that a reimagining is a cop-out for "we're out of ideas."

Perhaps a better candidate for the job would be Russell T. Davies. Look how the new Doctor Who has been essentially reinvented, while maintaining the continuity of the show. It's so different from the original series, but still the same character and concept.

Anyone can "re-imagine" something. It takes real creativity to pull off what Davies did with the new Doctor Who.
