Does saying it's the greatest really mean the opposite

If Patrick Stewart says XMAN3 is the best of that film series so far, I'd worry. Not only is that just expected hype - I mean, could he say otherwise - but it seems as though every single time I've heard how some film was the best in the series of whatever, it really turns out to be a bottom clunker. So, on one level, I want to say:Patrick, that's nice to hear. However, given the "art" of communication in current times, what I would really mean were I to say that is: What a shame it's going to be such a clunker. Too bad, Patrick, do you think that'll affect they're doing any more of those.

At least that's how I take what the logic of today seems to dictate - based on when I've heard that sort of hype in the past.
