That pretty much sums it up
By Hbasm

I would have loved a fifth season. I also welcome Coto's openness about his sense of direction for the show. Doing more for the characters, digging deeper into the founding of the Federation. The city of Stratos sounds very exotic. Of course its just words but season 4 really did "realise" a lot of potential and season 5 definitely had promise...

I also agree with Coto's comments on "the same old format". Well, its a good format, just old. I wish for more variation. There are a lot of repetition in Star Trek. I certainly like things that are familiar. Being a Trekker, its like a warm handshake between me and the show. But it also explains why its not "top priority TV" for the casual viewer... Star Trek is nolonger as new and fresh. People like "news". They watch the news, they read the news. But Star Trek is not new. I guess that's a natural development after 18 years ... and we ought to be grateful that Star Trek holds onto many of the good things, rather than pick up too many bad things. But its time for a change somehow...
