Signs Paramount is going in the right direction
By Sennik

Quote:
Because STAR TREK is such an enticing brand name that there are very few people out there who would not want to do it; anyone of the people running the hot action or hot sci-fi series out there would die to do a STAR TREK series and in two or three years that opportunity will be open.

Because in 2 years or so Rick Berman's contract is done and the position is open. A current executive producer implying that a new Star Trek project will have a new showrunner (for those unclear about Hollywood terms, showrunner = executive producer) is another sign that the Berman era has mercifily come to an end.

Paramount is waiting out Berman's contract, and there will be no Berman produced Star Trek XI (thank God). The next Star Trek project, TV or film, will begin just as soon as a replacement for Berman is found, probably early 2007 just after his contract ends.

Until then, enjoy Trek reruns, BSG, Alias, 24, and the other really good shows out there right now.
