Good episode.
By Hbasm

While I don't accept the extreme measures Archer is taking to reach his goals, I have to admit they are reasonable measures in the Star Trek universe.

My religious belief prevents me from harming another person even if it means I'll die, and I believe it's up to God to save our world. So, I don't think this episode can be compared with the real world. However, it's no secret that Star Trek has never held much faith in God and this makes the situation plausible. Without any hope for a miraculous protection of Earth; when we are left on our own; Archers mission makes sense and so does his extreme measures. I find it honourable that he decided not to keep or kill Degra and his people.

From a writers point of view, I'm sure this episode is about as realistic as it can get, and it takes a stand on political issues that seems to be constantly topical, in one way or another.

On a sidenote, but something that I think has plagued the ENT series through all it's seasons: I don't understand how it could be so EASY to get onboard the Xindi ship, and how there was enough time to play off the tricks with Degra without a swarm of Xindi ships attacking from all sides. This seems to demonstrate, once again, an incredibly low level of security on the behalf of the Xindi. It also makes me wonder if not the crew on NX-01 will survive anything the writers need them to survive, rather than only survive when it's realistic to survive. Sure, this problem also plagued the VOY series.
