There's there problem
By AntonyF

Although Braga is trying to be more diplomatic, his comments -- and moreso Blackman's -- sum up why Trek is in decline. Thinking that the audience is dumb enough to gravitate towards or away from Trek just because of such things as sex appeal is just arrogant and stupid.

It'd be easy, to say that a show fails due to lack of sex appeal, rather than tackle the core, basic, rather evident problem: lack of good writing.

Voyager's ratings were the pits by the time it ended, yet it had Saviour Seven of Nine. But what was the highest rated Trek? TNG! And while Deanna and Beverly were hardly chopped liver, did they have to resort to tarting it up, having gel rubbed over them, getting involved in stuff with blatantly lesbian overtones (like this week's Enterprise?).

I don't like paraphrasing, but feel I must today: "It's the writing, stupid."
