Two different franchises

Someone mentioned below that Smallville is a telling of the Superman mythos and I think it is successful at reinventing it.
Star Trek in a way is a retelling of Star Trek but doesnt succeed because it basically recycles.
the moral is, you can take a franchise and make people interested with a slant on something old.
Smallville does this, Enterprise doesnt.
This is why Smallville will survive longer.
