Now is the time to go back
By StillKirok

I think everybody would agree that Star Trek deserves its greatness back. And whatever your personal opinions, William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy (Kirk and Spock), are synoymous with the glory days of the franchise.

TNG proved to be a successful TV series, but financially and largely critically was not a successful movie franchise. Now the cast are fed up. They blame the fans. The studio blame the fans.

It helps if you don't alienate the fans first. This lies with the producers.

Meanwhile Shatner has had success with his Kirk novels (pick no bones they are the best selling Trek fiction books of all time).

Kirk still sells, and now people want to see the character back, and the creative involvement of William Shatner on some level. Little do people know that Shatner co-created Kirk with Gene Roddenberry, and literally went into Gene's office with a ton of notes. Ditto he and Nimoy created some of the best character scenes in The Motion Picture by simply acting them out for Robert Wise and Gene Roddenberry.

Bring Kirk back. Bring Nimoy out of retirement (sure he doesn't want to direct anymore, but given a great Trek script...)

And for God sake get someone who has a track record with the franchise to produce it.
