Topic: A cold chill runs up my spine - and not in a good way
This trailer does not encourage me that Nimoy's role will resolve the continuity issues. It only underscores that treatments and drafts that I have seen that more or less resolve them with the old Berman/Braga self-contradictory retrocon.

Yeah, Kirk's father dies in 2233, days before Kirk is born - and some Romulans from the TNG era inadvertently introduce technology from that era into Trek's past - and that throws the timeline out of whack a bit. Neither of these things explain in the Trek universe why Kirk is a different man (I mean it's not like a different sperm fertilized the egg or something because Kirk's mother and father didn't conceive in quite the right way nine months earlier). Why McCoy and Spock who were born years before the point of divergence are different people. Why Pike is different. Why Sulu went from being Japanese to Korean. Why Uhura is different. Why Chekov is different.

I mean come 'on folks, suspension of disbelief is one thing - but this is supposed to be air tight. Much more air tight than the crap treatments and scripts I read a couple months before the writers' strike. This is supposed to blend seamlessly with "The Cage" and "Where No Man Has Gone Before". Nothing that I have seen so far concurs with that assessment.
