Actor/director William Shatner made an appearance at the 85th annual Oscar Awards. Shatner was back as Captain James T. Kirk from the Original Series in a large screen.

Shatner told Oscars host Seth MacFarlane “I’ve come back in time from the 23rd century to stop you from destroying the Academy Awards.”

It wasn't canon, so it's not like it was a real Kirk appearance.

But it was fun.

Do they have tailors in the 23rd century? | Report this post to moderator

Though it was nice to see Shatner and Star Trek having such a major role in the Oscars opening, did they really have to find the uniform at a costume shop? I don't know what was worse: the faded, yellow-ish color of the turtle neck undershirt, or the frumpy quality of his jacket. This is Hollywood, couldn't they dig up a better fitting original for the guy? Perhaps one of the ones James Doohan wore in the later films? heh

He was one of the best things about the oscars last night. Seth was not a good host.
