Star Trek Fan With Terminal Cancer Granted A Special Viewing of Star Trek Into Darkness

Features

By GustavoLeao / 12:51, 29 December 2012 / Star Trek: Nemesis

Collider and TrekMovie are reporting that friends and family of a terminally ill Star Trek fan with cancer has been granted the wish to see all or parts of "Star Trek Into Darkness" in the very near future.

After a plea was made on Reedit, the director, J. J. Abrams, was made aware of the request, and plans are being made to show either the 9 minute IMAX preview or a rough draft of "Star Trek Into Darkness", as the film has not been finished. The terminally ill fan, whose time is very limited, had tried previously to see the 9 minute IMAX preview, but the theater he attended did not show it. His illness now prohibits him to travel to see the "Star Trek Into Darkness" preview.

TrekWeb
especially thanks J. J. Abrams, and all the folks at Bad Robot and Paramount, for coming forward and granting the Star Trek fan's last wish. Such kindness is in the true spirit of Gene Roddenberry's vision of "Star Trek".

Our thoughts go out to the Star Trek fan, and his entire family and friends.

Links to the original articles at Collider and Trekmovie can be found here.

Speciial Thanks to TrekWeb Reporter John Morton

its great that he was able to see this movie, and that jj and company were able to grant him his Wish. Class Act all around at paramount and bad robot.

I admit, this is a class act by Abrams. Call it publicity or whatever, I don't care. I'm just glad this Trek fan is getting someTrek love before he passes.

Great job, team Abrams.
