Benedict Cumberbatch Reveals a Bit Details About His Terrorist Villain in Star Trek Into Darkness

YAHOO! News posted a new interview with Star Trek Into Darkness star Benedict Cumberbatch and here are excerpts.

He describes John Harrison thus:

"He is fed into the crew of the Enterprise and creates a lot of shadow play between Kirk and Spock. He is an awesome single-handed weapon of mass destruction but also a master mind-player and manipulator who plays with their roles and loyalties and understanding of what's right and wrong. As far as his own purpose, beyond the terrorist means, he has a noble cause, which will hopefully resonate with the audience."

Cumberbatch was diplomatic when asked about the comparison with Nero. "It's a compliment to me, not a disservice to Eric Bana… I think what he was saying is that second time round you've established the origin story there. All the crew understand each other, but at the same time you have to up the stakes with their peril, which means bringing in a stronger antagonist. It's one of hugest compliments [J.J. Abrams] wanting to work with me, knowing how big this villain is."

"In the first film you see Kirk as a teenager becoming a young man, earning the chair and the respect of his peers, but this is about something beyond that; caring for his whole crew and becoming a father to them." He said Pine gives a "grown-up" performance this time around.

Oh myyy... why have you posted that link? I wished it was already offline when I visited it. I promised myself not to watch it!!! But as usual... I was weak. ;)

But guess what. Watching that terrible quality video was sheer fun. I had to laugh a lot. It corresponds to that description from another post here and you still don't know if the villain has anything to do with those fan-imaginings on the internet.

Cumberbatch simply informs the father of that dying girl that he has the means to help her. Then the father asks "Who are you?" and the girl (who filmed this) said... "that's what I wanna know!" LOL

I hope it's ok to post these pictures. If you think it's critical, please remove them Gus.
