Journalisst Larry Nemecek interviewed actor/director Tim Russ for his TrekLand website, regarding the upcoming Star Trek independent web series Star Trek Renegades and here is an excerpt.

"Star Trek: Renegades involves a couple of the main characters from the previous Star Trek series, myself — Tuvok’s character, Chekov as well." Russ said "It takes place about seven years after Voyager has returned and it takes Star Trek to more-or-less the outer edges and fringes of the Federation — not only logistically, but also in terms of culture and in terms of the way the structure of the people involved and the characters and relationships and what they’re doing."

"So we’re sort of moving Star Trek forward towards the rebel renegades edge in terms of storyline."

This is basically a fan fiction movie. I don't care how old he is or how he got into this situation.

I am just happy he is going to be in the movie. It represents someone from TOS and that couldn't be a bad thing could it? So its just a nod to TOS if you ask me. And any little line they want to put in to make him survive the old age part will do.

Chekov's age | Report this post to moderator

Someone should really ask Tim Russ about Chekov being 150 years old.

I get that they have medicines and technology that can extend life, which is great, but even McCoy LOOKED much older at 137.

Chekov looks basically about 80 at best, and that's a stretch.
