Chris Pine Says J. J. Abrams Is Not "Toying With People", Abrams' Incredible Secrecy Is Not "Some Kind of Big Game"

Features

By GustavoLeao / 05:06, 22 November 2012 / Star Trek: Nemesis

While speaking about his new movie, "Rise of the Guardians", Chris Pine briefly mentioned "Star Trek Into Darkness" with Shane Weinstein for Explorernews.com.

When asked about the upcoming Trek movie, Pine, who plays the new Captain Kirk, said, "I can't say anthing really.  I think that's really the great joy of J. J. [Abrams] and his team.  I think people sometimes take his incredible secrecy as J. J. toying with people and some kind of big game, whereas I think J. J. is a creator of magic, and magicians want to retain (their magic). Nowadays, everybody knows everything and there are behind the scenes, sneak peak facts, and tabloids.  I think J. J. wants to retain as much mystery as possible up until the last second so the experience of watching the film is as fun as possible".

...And I am relaxed, I just think that JJ is toying with the fans.

So what if he is? So what if he purposely lied and never intended to put Shatner in the 2009 film? Grow up, stop taking things so personally and move on already. Seriously, for a group of people who have ZERO clue what's going on behind the scenes, you sure assume a lot.

I think he's a cool actor and did well as Kirk. He played the role perfectly, IMO.

That said, I'm sick of the secrecy. All I see now is "blah, blah, blah, magic tricks bullshit blah, blah, blah, mystery box" JJ is toying with the fans. Look at his visit with Conan when JJ showed just three frames. Yeah, it was funny. But it was also a big tease to Trek fans. It's like dangling a dog treat to a dog just out of reach.

Pine has to stick up for his director, of course. So I don't blame him. JJ is just being a d-bag.

Cuz Pine just described a magician's game and prefaced the statement with how it's not a game.
