Exclusive : Author Timothy S. Johnston on Writing the Sequel to His Best-Selling Science Fiction Novel The Furnace

In an update sent out just this weekend, writer Timothy S. Johnston has announced that his next book will be a follow-up to his locked-room murder mystery/thriller THE FURNACE. It will be a standalone novel, a new mystery not connected with the first book, but will follow a similar formula and also feature a remote setting, an escalating body count, and a scientific mystery that Homicide Investigator Kyle Tanner must solve in order to save his own life.

Johnston, discussing his experience with THE FURNACE, writes: "The experience has been extraordinary ... the success of the thriller as both a �Featured� novel as well as a best seller at the iBookstore floored me. I think the novel is cross-genre and appeals to many. Part thriller, part murder mystery, part science-fiction ... in one sense it is a book that is an original addition to the "Imposter" theme that so many SF fans love, but at the same time feels comforting to fans of those Agatha Christie locked-room mysteries that are so engaging. It also appeals to mainstream readers who traditionally have stayed away from SF."

This new Johnston thriller will be out sometime in 2013.

...and I must say it was one of the best things I ever won! The book was really great and I received the e-mail saying he was writing a new entry in the story of Kyle Tanner, such great news! Every sci-fi fan here on Trekweb who enjoys reading and a little bit of mystery/suspense should buy this book, it was a great read (and from one of us!).

Good luck to Timothy for this second novel, I hope it's as good as the first and that it gets as much, if not more, success!
