By GustavoLeao / 08:37, 28 October 2012 / General Star Trek

Veteran television director Winrich Kolbe has died after a long illness at the age of 71. While Kolbe was frequently in demand to direct hit television shows, he is best known for his direction of 48 episodes in the “Star Trek” franchise. Kolbe died in late September but the news was not released until now.

Kolbe directed several seminal episodes of TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT, including the TNG finale "All Good Things..." and the Voyager pilot episode "Caretaker". Kolbe retired from directing in 2003 and began teaching at the Savannah Collgege of Art and Design where he retired in 2007.

is my all-time favorite TNG episode. I just love this final episode.

He was a fantastic director. RIP Winrich Kolbe.

Rest in Peace to a great director. He did all of my favorite spin-off episodes. This a great loss.
