The
latest issue of "Star Trek Magazine" has just been released in the US.
and they have a round up of recent "Star Trek Into Darkness" related
interviews and news reports.
Mention and discussion of the
movie's title, "Star Trek Into Darkness", is followed by a recap of
reports concerning the film's villain, played by Benedict Cumberbatch,
including MTV's recent interview with Chris Pine and Cinemablend.com's
discussion with Alex Kurtzman.
Pine states, "Vocally,
(Cumberbatch) is fascinating. He has this resonant voice. He's got a
fascinating face. He's a lovely guy and super smart."
Kurtzman
tells Cinemablend.com, "He's (Cumberbatch) is a genius. There are
certain actors who have the ability to take a line of dialogue and add a
ring to it that you didn't even know you put into the dialogue. Just
listening to him talk ... you could enjoy him reading the phone book."
Finally,
the Star Trek Magazine relates recent interviews with Karl Urban, Damon
Lindelof and Kurtzman, where they discuss the "iconic relationships"
between the Enterprise crew.
Lindelof states in a MTV interview,
"It was really fun to write the crew this time. In the first one they
are all just meeting each other, and they get thrown together on this
mission. But now they are a crew, and these iconic relationships are
starting to form, which we just saw hints of before."
Urban tells
ScreenRant, "I think that everybody's character gets to continue to
develop. You learn more about them and what makes them tick, and they
get tested like they've never been tested before."
Kurtzman in
"The Hollywood Reporter" says, "The assumption that we did they we did
not want to make was that just because Kirk's in the chair, and they're
on the Bridge together, that they're the crew that you remember from the
original series. They're not. The crew from the original series had
gone on many, many journeys, they were a well-oiled machine in terms of
how they function, and these characters are still figuring out who they
are, and who they are to each other."
The latest issue of "Star Trek Magazine", number 42, can now be found on newsstands.
