Roberto Orci on Star Trek Into Darkness Coming Together, Says the Actors Were True Collaborators in the Final Rewrites

Features

By GustavoLeao / 20:52, 19 October 2012 / Star Trek: Nemesis

Star Trek Into Darkness co-writer Roberto Orci once again posted a few posts on TrekMovie.com message board, even if the famed Trek site appears to be dead.

"Wish you could be here. It’s both fun and scary watching the movie come together." Orci told another poster. (post 422)

Asked about rewrites, Orci wrote "We were absolutely able to rewrite and did so gladly. First, we had notes on our own work. Secondly, the actors really knew their characters this time around, so they were amazing in giving notes and suggestions for how to better the script. They were our true collaborators in the final rewrites." (post 428)

Bill and Leonard Nimoy did the same thing on the TOS movies.

I think it's noteworthy to remember that the first film (2009) was shot under the dark cloud of a WGA strike, so no re-writes were allowed. The dialogue we saw was verbatim to the printed script, so no opportunities to change and improve anything were allowed.
