A new video interview with Star Trek star Karl Urban, by Todd Gilchrist, concerning Star Trek Into Darkness, has just been posted on Celebuzz.com.

Urban states that J J Abrams "is a brilliant director to work with", who has a "real sharp storytelling sensibility". He states that the upcoming film will "do something to the audience that will be epic, emotional and will move them".

Urban was asked if he had a "greater sense of ownership now of Bones in the second film, that he is more your character and you are not just standing on the shoulders of giants?"

Urban readily replied, "No. I have a huge admiration and respect for the TOS cast". He went on to explain that the original series was special to him, "as he grew up watching them" and enjoyed them as a kid. Urban finished by saying that "to have the opportunity to do this film is an amazing privlidge".

TG Daily has also just posted a new interview with Urban from the Huffington Post, written be Mike Ryan.

When asked about his interpretation of Bones, Urban said, "It's a slippery slope. As a longtime fan of Star Trek, I would have felt short changed if I had gone into the cinema and not seen a character that was identically McCoy."

He went on to state, "I also have to make the character my own. And it is, ultimately, my interpretation of what Bones is. But, having such huge admiration and respect for what he did before, it was important that the character be recognizably Bones."

And the biggest Trek, as well. I look forward to watching his portrayal of Bones again. I just hope that we get to see some more Spock-McCoy banter.
