London, Sept 11 (ANI): 'Star Trek' legend Walter Koenig has finally been awarded with a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The 75-year-old actor, who played Russian Ensign Pavel Chekov in 2 seasons of The Original Series and seven Star Trek movies, could not hide his joy as he posed with fellow series originals and his family at the unveiling ceremony on Monday.

"This is something that you hope and wish for, dream about, but something you never expect to really happen," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

"It's a joyous occasion and I am deeply honoured," he said.

It is eight years since the last member of the cast was recognized, with James Doohan, who played Scottish engineer Montogomery Scott, give a spot for his contribution to television, the report said.

According to it, three of his crew mates turned out to appear with their old friend, with Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols and George Takei serving as his Starfleet guard of honour.

Koenig celebrated with his wife Judy Levitt and daughter Danielle, who both gave him congratulatory kisses. (ANI)

And as for whether William Shatner cares or not, you can watch what he said at the end of this really fun compilation of congratulatory messages to Walter to judge for yourself. (He's the last person to speak, right after Leonard Nimoy)...

(Personally, I think he just didn't want to open old wounds, which we all know there are. So, he chose to stay away. But I'm just guessing.)

I think he's a good sport. He has enough noteriety that he really doesn't have to go to this stuff for his former cast mates, and he does.
