Star Trek Renegades Independent Television Pilot Begins Production, Starring Walter Koenig, Garrett Wang, Director Tim Russ and More

Features

By GustavoLeao / 05:55, 9 September 2012 / General Star Trek

It has been seven long years since Enterprise left the air, and though we’ve had the recent big screen adaptation of Gene Roddenberry’s futuristic vision (and the Star Trek Into Darkness sequel coming next year), the producers of Star Trek Of Gods and Men feel the true home of Star Trek is as a continuing episodic series. The goal of this project is to make that happen.

The team who brought you Star Trek Of Gods and Men, are proud to announce Star Trek Renegades, a professionally produced television pilot to be presented for a possible online series.

Visit their YouTube channel to see the new trailer with new footage!

Renegades, as the name suggests, will be bold, edgy and a little dark. Renegades will feature a combination of familiar Star Trek faces, plus a collection of hot, new rising actors (to be announced).

Tim Russ (Tuvok in Voyager) has signed on to direct Renegades. Also currently in the cast are Walter Koenig (Chekov, Original Series), Tim Russ, Gary Graham (Alien Nation; Soval, Enterprise), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim, Voyager), Manu Intiraymi (Icheb, Voyager) and Richard Herd (Admiral Paris, Voyager).

I hope they get Frakes and Sirtis. And maybe Michael Dorn can play his concept of Captain Worf in an episode f this exciting web series.

A pilot for a professional webseries is a bit different than a fanfilm - how are they getting away with it? Have they cut a deal with Paramount?

The premise seems awfully bleak.

I follow several of the Star Trek fan film efforts. Many of them are quite good. I liked Of Gods and Men and Renegades looks to be even better. I've been waiting for the September 8 announcement and seeing the preliminary trailer explaining the premise intrigued me. Can't wait to see more. I know it's in the early stages but it looks promising and I can't wait to see what they come up with.
