First Look at the Cover of Ships of the Line 2013 Calendar

8of5 Guide to the Trek Collective posted covers and descriptions for the four Star Trek calendars for 2013, coming from new Star Trek calendar publisher Rizzoli (or more specifically their imprint Universe Publishing). This looks like a great "work in progress" image. Very dramatic. Everything from the textures to the cloud and smoke FX seems way to simple and cartoony. Like a ray trace from the 90's. There even seems to be some glaring geometry problems with the D-7. Maybe this was produced on the cheap or it isn't a final image? Fans routinely produce more convincing images (although not at print resolution).
