AICN Reports That Bryan Singer and Bryan Fuller are Teaming on a New Star Trek TV Series Project

Features

By GustavoLeao / 16:08, 3 February 2012 / Star Trek: Nemesis

According to AICN, former Star Trek Voyager producer Bryan Fuller and X-Men director Bryan Singer are teaming on a proposed Star Trek TV Series. Here is the excerpt from the article :

By the way, Fuller tells AICN exclusively that the two Bryans, who have long (but separately) contemplated new “Star Trek” TV series, have discussed the possibility of pooling their resources to take a new corner of Gene Roddenberry’s multiverse to the small screen. Hopefully J.J. Abrams and Les Moonves will give them the keys to Starfleet HQ.

To quote the article, JJ Abrams has the keys now and he's an established TV producer. If there is going to be a new TV series, it will be produced by Abrams, not someone else.

If the report ends up being true, I don't know how I feel about one of the "old guard" being involved. The scars in fandom in my opinion still haven't healed after the great meltdown of the early 2000s, and while I don't see Bryan Fuller's name cursed every time it's uttered the way certain other people's names are toxic, I'm not looking forward to a new round of that with another TV series. If they do another Trek series, it needs to follow the lead of Doctor Who and have no one involved who was involved in the "old guard". At least not at first.

Ain't It Cool News is one of the least reliable sites out there, and easily the worst written and worst designed. It's a completely useless site that hasn't been relevant in about a decade, with a horrible track record for getting things right. I'd take anything posted there with not just a grain of salt, but rather the entire shaker.

Let the new movies have their time in the spot light. why kill star trek with another tv series. with the failures of the last three I still think they should wait. Star Trek is finally becoming popular again. All another tv show will do is kill it. I think we can last another 5 to 10 years without a show.

I hope to see a new Trek on TV (very) soon. And somehow I like it to be another reboot or stuck with the prime timeline, without the stupid destruction of Romulus.

Having a hard time believing that a heavy hitter like Singer is working on TV when Abrams is clearly running things now.

... but I'll believe it when I see it.
