Star Trek The Next Generation star Patrick Stewart told U.K. talk show host Graham Norton last week, "I have just done seven years of theater and it's been the best seven years of my life. We filmed two of the stage productions I was in and I so enjoyed being in front of a camera again.

"I felt it would be a good time to see if I could kick-start a film career. I never really had a film career, I had a franchise career, so I've made a decision to take 18 months off and see what happens."

I guess theater doesn't pay as well as film.
Of course, I could be wrong. Maybe he really just misses the different acting in front of a camera.
He's right, though that except for Star Trek and X-Men he hasn't really had a film career. I'm not sure he can overcome type-casting and get some good roles that aren't a clone of Picard/Professor X (which were kinda similar).
