Read an 8-Page Preview of Star Trek Ongoing Issue 5

Comics Continuum posted an 8-page preview of the upcoming fifth issue of the Star Trek Ongoing comic book from IDW, written by Joe Lansdale with art by Peter Bergting, on sale this week.

Here is how IDW describes the comic book :

The voyages of the new crew of the Enterprise continue in this re-imagining of the classic episode Operation: Annihilate! Captain Kirk comes face to face with the ghosts of his past when a rescue mission reunites him with the last person he expects to see: his brother

I always wondered why Sam didn't appear in the movie.

Originally, the kid Kirk drove past was supposed to be Sam, but they changed it inexplicably.

It's been awhile since I've watched the blu ray and the deleted scenes, so I don't remember if Sam is fleshed out or not. I'm pretty sure Sam appears in the novelization.

It might be interesting to spare Sam in the comic.

Now THAT is an example of an acceptable change due to Nero's wiping of the prime timeline. And having Sam live would certainly give us the chance to actually meet him in a future movie.
