The Danish movie website Filmz was recently in Dubai to
cover the world premiere of "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol".
Amongst others, Filmz met Simon Pegg and couldn't resist asking
about Star Trek XII, and we've been offered these
early excerpts from the interview exclusively at TrekWeb. Interview : Johan Albrechtsen
JOHAN
ALBRECHTSEN: Another thing that's obviously totally "hush hush" is 'Star
Trek 2', and it's probably way too early to talk about the story and
you haven't seen a script yet...
SIMON PEGG: I haven't seen a script
yet. I do know the story, though. I know PART of the story, but we
haven't seen a script yet. We're gonna see it soon. I think next week.
JA: Speaking as a Trekkie to a fellow Trekkie, do you think fans will dig the story?
SP: Absolutely. It's more of what we love as Star Trek fans, you know. What's not to love?
JA:
Is there anything you'd like to see happen with Scotty? I mean, in the
first one you got to say "I'm giving it all she's got Captain," so you
gotta get a "I cannot change the laws of physics in there", right?
SP:
That's a nice one, that's a classic. I hope these great, sort of
classic lines... Er, but if they're used, the have to be done properly
for the right situation and not just be done as a sly wink. I'd like to
see Scotty having more physical relations with Orion slave girls.
After
the interview Filmz asked about the latest info regarding the start of
the shoot, and apparently Pegg was aiming at getting in front of the
camera sometime in January. Unfortunately, Filmz' reporter wasn't able
to yank out the title for the sequel from its producer, Bryan Burk, who
was also in Dubai to promote "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol". He
only let slip "Oh, we're not calling it 'Star Trek 2' anymore, just..."
before he realized what he was about to reveal. As McCoy would probably
say: Damn it, Bryan!
TrekWeb wish to thank journalist Johan Albrechtsen of the Filmz website for this exclusive interview.
