Viacom CEO Philippe Dauman said on Thursday that Paramount Pictures currently is “developing ideas for ‘Paranormal Activity 4’” and a fourth Transformers movie, while also confirming that a “Star Trek” sequel should hit theaters in 2013, according to THR.

Dauman says “Star Trek” director J.J. Abrams is “focused on developing the next installment of [the] franchise” for a potential release in 2013. While addressing stock holders, COO Tom Dooley said that Paramount is developing a live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film, as well.

Agreed. I like the pre-production art better than the final product. That often seems the case.

Seems like they could do a Christmas 2012 release, especially since they are supposed to start filming in January. They've made that due date even when filming began in March on previous movies. Even though you have The Hobbit and Skyfall next Christmas, I'm sure Summer 2013 is packed already anyway. Star Trek 2's success will be based on it being a great movie, not if there are no other blockbusters released in the same time period.

The reason I ask is that I don't see the "scanners" that were on the helmsman's and navigator's station. You know the ones I'm talking about ... they were originally designed to scan barcodes in retail stores or something.

Ya, ya, ya. I know. I'm a geek.
