By GustavoLeao / 09:01, 30 October 2011 / Star Trek: Nemesis

The brazilian Trek Brasilis website, the major Star Trek website in Brazil, posted in one of their articles a note about possible spoilers for Star Trek XII.

According to the article, a trusted source to the site revealed to them that the movie villains are the Klingons and that is NO time travel involved this time.

This information is preliminary, of course, and entirely rumor.

The full article (in Portuguese) can be found here

(For our portuguese speaking readers, the note with the info is written at the end of the article, after A SPOILERS/RUMORS warning)

It HAS to be Klingons | Report this post to moderator

I would be dissapointed if it wasn't Klingons. They are an iconic part of the Star Trek history. Having any other alien race, be it be new or not, would be a mistake.

By the way, I vote for Kor as the main Klingon antangonist as he was the most devious. Koloth was sort of silly and Kang was just a Kor wannabe.

Kor!

Considering the Klingons were in the original cut of the last film it makes sense for Abrams to try again. Hopefully he'll give Victor Garber another shot at playing one. Question will be whether Abrams will keep them masked like he did the last time, go with the human look of TOS and late ENT, or go with the ridged TMP-TNG look, throwing a spanner into the ENT element of Trek continuity.

Hardly a surprise.

Sorry to repeat myself with my disdain for his approach, but everyone knows JJ goes for that "sweet spot" between pop culture recognizability and "hipness/newness."

It would make sense for him to go for the most iconic bad guys that everyone and their brother knows if they have lived near a TV and "make them new" somehow.

I hope this is all true | Report this post to moderator

The Klingons would be my first choice, and I have zero issue with seeing Kor, Kang and/or Koloth as primary villain(s). What i don't want is a rehash of a TOS episode/story. I didn't want Khan for that reason as well. That isn't to say that there won't be some appearance from him or other TOS characters.. but I just think that using Khan is kind of obvious and not so original. I want this movie to be an original story, with few characters that would distract or cause too many comparisons.

The Great Bird of the Galaxy that "NO time travel involved this time" is true. I really, really do.

P.S. Fringe is doing an alternate timeline story this season and it's boring me to tears. I'm really, really tired of time travel/alternate timeline stories.

Wouldn't surprise me. The "no time travel" thing should pretty much be common sense, as it could/would be perceived as being cheap to do it AGAIN after being in the last movie.
