Jolene Blalock Talks About Her New Role in Legend of the Seeker TV Series

Features

By GustavoLeao / 15:22, 3 March 2010 / General Star Trek

Newsarama posted a new interview with former Star Trek Enterprise star Jolene Blalock and here are few excerpts.

Newsarama: How did you end up getting involved with Legend of the Seeker, Jolene?

Jolene Blalock: Actually, I have a relationship with the casting director. Ages ago they called me to try out for a different role, but our schedules didn't match up. They called me back for this role as Sister Nicci, and I was glad to take it.

Nrama: For those that haven't seen the episodes yet, what can you tell us about your character Sister Nicci?

Blalock: As I was portraying Sister Nicci, I had to hold firm in the belief that she is inherently good and pure; not evil, although she's a Sister of the Dark. And I believe that whether she's labeled a Sister of the Light or Dark, her intentions are clear and sold. I do think that sometimes you can lose focus of the bigger picture when you're blinded by the passions of your own intentions, which is what Nicci is. Sister Nicci has been playing this encounter for awhile; when she finally crosses paths with Richard, it's a long-awaited moment for her.

At that point, Sister Nicci is acting out on a plan she's been convening for awhile - every word, every sentence is very well rehearsed in her mind. She's had time to play this movie forward, to expect what will happen at each step of the way. As each moment unfolds, she feels a sort of self-satisfaction in the perfection of her execution. The key is the subtlety of it all.

The full interview is here.

Dear Disney-ABC DT,
I write with hopes that the series “Legend of the Seeker” can continue to be produced and distributed beyond the current Tribune Broadcasting stations, as they have stated that they no longer intend to support this show. As of the second season, the series has really begun to hit its stride, as most shows do in their second, third, or even fourth year of production and it would be a shame if this program were discontinued.
In the age of Internet broadcasting, I have watched this series exclusively online and often wonder how those ratings are accounted for, as opposed to “The Numbers” of television, but to whom it may concern, this program is enjoyed by a great many people who have no wish to see it cancelled. Fans of this genre instantly mention the SyFy network as a logical choice of a new home for “Legend of the Seeker” as this type of program would be an attractive fit for sponsors and viewers alike.

If you’ll grant a personal remark- Not everybody out there in viewership land wants to watch “reality” based programming, be it singing, dancing, or runway modeling, and most other fare features people standing behind yellow tape with guns, flashlights, and rubber gloves.

“Legend of the Seeker” is a welcome return to the age of swashbuckling, derring-do, and romance. Each of the main characters- men and women alike, are heroes to be admired and are often to be found thoughtfully engaged in moral dilemmas. Simply put, there is no other series like it on broadcast television today. To be honest, it’s just plain fun to watch and a great many people look forward to watching it every week.

Please note that any consideration for the continuation of this series would be very much appreciated by its fans.

Thank you.

I'm thrilled LOTS was renewed for a second season and I'm glad she's in it.

It is WAY less than faithful to the books, but that's OK with me for the sake of a 45 minute action romp. There's a bit of a camp factor- less so this season, thank you very much- but it's kind of tongue in cheek around the edges!

The characters are likeable enough, the scenery (the ladies VERY much included) is gorgeous, the production values are way up this year and it's just fun to watch!

Don't take it too seriously, and you'll have yourself a good show to look forward to every week!

Peace,
hawke

Gustavo- The offer stands, my friend! ;)
