TrekWeb.com has obtained more exclusive videos from Bill Williams' recent tour of Cryptic Studios to promote the forthcoming release of the Star Trek Online MMORPG. Here is Bill's report:
As we head into the final week before the launch of Star Trek Online, it's interesting to see more of the real technical stuff that goes into the game. The sound design has always been an integral part of the Star Trek universe ever since the days of the Original Series. Here we get to talk with the sound designer for the game, who talks with us about how CBS/Paramount had provided an extensive library of sound effects for use in the game. And yes, that is a tribble in the background you hear! -

For a game as complex as Star Trek Online, it definitely takes multiple servers to manage the number of players participating in the game at any one time, and it takes a team of specialists to keep track of it all. In this next clip you get to see the mother board screen at work during the testing process.

Finally, it takes hundreds of pre-production sketches, costume designs, and set design sketches just to bring the design of Star Trek Online to life. The artists have pushed themselves to keep all of the concept art you will see in the game faithful to what has been established in the many series and feature films. Want to see more? Take a look!
