William Shatner Says He Would Really Enjoy Signing for Star Trek XII

Features

By GustavoLeao / 12:12, 29 November 2009 / Star Trek: Nemesis

The Miami Herald posted a new interview with Star Trek star William Shatner and here is an excerpt of the article.

Shatner's figure (as Kirk) was recently cast into wax at the famed Madame Tussaud's in London.

``I was beside myself when I was there,'' the Priceline pitchman joked, adding, ``There was wax in my dummy's ears.''

As for rumors he'll have a part in the Star Trek sequel (he was passed over for the last one), he would not be averse.

``That comes as news to me,'' he said. ``If you could write that up, put a couple of clauses in there -- contract, salary, time -- I would really enjoy signing that.''

Captain Insano would enjoy signing for Star Trek XII | Report this post to moderator

I just have to state for the record that I would enjoy signing for Star Trek XII, given the right compensation package, meaningful script and character progression, of course, as we as residuals around any spin offs etc..

JJ, call me, you know where to reach me. I'm very important to the continuation of the franchise, as at least 3 people know me, one of them isn't even a family member, you don't even need to provide make up for the large forehead, this is included at no extra cost.

Shatners last hurrah | Report this post to moderator

If there's a logical way to get him in there, give the guy a small but meaningful part. Let it be his last hurrah with Trek.
They could still have the pendant scene from Spock in there . The pendant handing could be a flashback and Pine opens it up for the new Trek at the beginning. Young Spock and him watch it together.

Only ways to get him in | Report this post to moderator

A) more time travel / alternate universe thingies

B) holographic message that Spock Prime is carrying around (couldn't be more than a cameo)

C) flashforward of Shater, now a non-dead JJ-verse Shatner Kirk, remembering about the movie that is about to pay/just finished playing. MAYBE they could do a mystery ala the novel Best Destiny that starts when he's a young man and concludes when he's an old man, but that would be tough to pull off.

None of those appeal to me. I think Shatner's awesome, but I can't think of a way to fit him in neatly into the story unless we go down the time-travel route again and I think nobody wants that.

Gee. What a surprise. | Report this post to moderator

That Shatner would want to be in a new ST film... let's see, since he was killed in ST:G, does that mean he would be willing to play a zombie; or perhaps as someone contacted initially by the GhosT Hunters, he might provide crucial information to Starfleet as to how to access and retrieve prisoners that terrorists took beyond. :)
