Rumor Mill : Bryan Singer Battlestar Galactica Movie is Underway ?

Features

By GustavoLeao / 16:41, 6 November 2009 / General Genre/SciFi

According to SciFiPulse The Examiner.com reports that X-Men director Bryan Singers planned Battlestar Galactica movie is underway.

According to the Newspaper, Singer is already hard at work on the movie, which according to rumors has more in common with the original series, and is working along side Battlestar Galactica creator Glen A. Larson on the project.

Here is how the newspaper reports the article, courtesy of SciFiPulse:

Now that pre-production has started, any rumors that Singer's next project was going to be "X" related (as in X-Men) has been put to rest, along with any shot he had of helming another Superman flick. There's been no word if Ronald D. Moore will be involved in the re-reboot, yet given the rumored "rocky" relationship between Larson and Moore, it seems unlikely.

The original report can be found at SciFiPulse.

Brian Singer + BSG = Success | Report this post to moderator

First of all, I love Moore's BSG. It was the best sci-fi on television while it was on. And probably is only barely eclipsed by my love for Star Trek as a favorite show. That's saying a lot seeing as I could not sit through an entire episode of the original series. So Singer and Larson sure better be grateful because there is a whole cadre of people who wouldn't have given the movie a chance had it not been for RDM.

And Bryan Singer is a good producer/director. He creates high quality products. I wouldn't say they are my favorite movies, but XMEN, XMEN 2, Superman Returns were all good movie by my estimation. So the new Battlestar Galactica movie should be a success. I am surprised by the negativity. As genre fans, Bryan Singer has done a lot to keep sci-fi/fantasy alive and well. He'll turn out a good product in the end.

SUCK...like it or not like it, Ron Moore's series took a crappy series and took the good parts of it and left out the crap, this movie will be like the Fly 2, you want it to be good, but there's no way it can be...

By the time you hit the 3rd remake, who cares? | Report this post to moderator

Look, I understand when people are ticked off about a remake. I get it. I GET it. But, seriously, it's the third time they've rebooted this franchise. When you hit the THIRD TIME, is the original or remake property REALLY all that sacred anymore?

Remake #1 - Rar, unoriginal, boo. Rage is expected and sometimes right.
Remake #2 - Eh, whatever. The property is a worn out stripper by that point.

How is he getting away with it? | Report this post to moderator

I just want to know how they're getting away with doing another version of BSG when the current Moore version IS STILL UNDER WAY. The Plan just came out on DVD and will air on TV next year, and the spinoff series Caprica starts in a few months, and Olmos has said there may be more made-for-DVD films, too. It just doesn't make sense, and frankly is the worst case of sour grapes I've ever seen.

Reimagine it a second time by all means, but wait 10 years first, huh?

I'm really glad this is going to happen. You know, back in 2003 I HATED the idea behind RDM's version of BSG. I had been boycotting that series for almost 2 years back then and used to curse RDM on the web for about the same time.

Then, after the end of ENT, I gave it a try.I can still remeber the day I finally watched the mini-series on DVD. I had to get myself drunk first because I couldn't stand the thought of finally giving in.

And you know what: I finally fell in love with RDM's BSG. I still believe it is one of the - if not THE - best series ever made.
I'd go so far to say that my longterm hatred for a series I had never seen may have made that first watching experience even far more emotional than for those who had embraced the show from day one. Yeah, I loved NuBSG from that day onwards.

But was it BSG as in BSG:TOS? Nope. It wasn't even G:1980...I hope this new movie will finally resurrect the original BSG flair. I know a lot of people dislike the old show for being campy and silly. But that's what it was...

New Battlestar Galactica wars on this website to come?

Will this project be a travesty? Or will it be a matter of "Anything will be better than RDM's version!"
