For me, that scene in the movie everyone goes on about where the Enterprise rises up from the atmosphere of Titan is reasonably good, but doesn't totally work for me. I think it's the way it comes up and just sort of hangs there, filling the screen completely. I think that shot would have worked better had it risen up, then the camera pans round it a little and it fires off into warp.

I know that's such a geeky thing to say, but it's only because I really felt a bit of an anti-climax even the first time round - it went from "holy fuck, look at that" to "er... weren't you rushing somewhere guys? Why are you hanging around for the promo shot?".

I saw it on Sunday night again and thought "why the hell didn't they release the Saturn shot as the publicity still for the Enterprise" and here it is!!

Then I stopped and thought, you know what - Saturn looks a bit fake actually!

Love the Nimoy Quinto shot - should have been a poster. And good to have shots of Kirk in the Gold! :)

Still don't think "the" Enterprise promo shot they used was a wise choice, nor some of the Spock shots where they made Quinto look like a plastic doll - odd and ever so creepy.

I've gotta say, aside from the ones where Quinto looks like he's made of plastic, these are great shots. Pine really does look the part. Better so than I thought before.

...of some of the pictures on the old Topps bubblegum cards for ST:TMP with the corny captions like "Two men with a mission".
