Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman on Designing Star Trek XII and Trek XIII Rumors

Features

By GustavoLeao / 13:18, 7 August 2009 / Star Trek: Nemesis

IGN posted a new interview with Star Trek writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman and here are few excerpts from the article.

"We had about a 15-minute to half-hour discussion with the whole gang and went off on our separate ways," says Orci. "We're still in the re-reading and taking it all in phase before we actually sit down and start designing [the sequel]."

"We have to comb through everything and make sure that we leave no stone unturned because that was the approach that I think we were looking for on the first movie," says Kurtzman.

The pair also addressed rumors that the second film might directly bridge into a third film.

"It was more the fact that we talked about the minute you start seeing how much Star Trek there is and how many ideas everyone is having, you realize you could have enough material for... Well, you know, there's been 43 years of material!" says Orci. "That's all that we meant by that. So, it happens to cross your mind, but we're not leaning one way or the other yet."

The full interview is here.

I still haven't seen Abrams Trek movie, so why should I care about the next? Trek is dead. Long live Gene Roddenberry and B&B ... but its over, and I'm out.

Borg tech exists on Earth in the 22nd century post First Contact...

"I would be happy for Star Trek to come along decades later with a new group of minds. I'd love someone to say, 'Besides this one, Gene Roddenberry's was nothing!'" - Gene Roddenberry

"...I think it would be wonderful years from now to see Star Trek come back with an equally talented new cast playing Spock and Kirk and Bones and Scotty and all the rest, as they say tomorrow's things to tomorrow's generations..." - Gene Roddenberry

When they talk about "43 years of material" to go over it clearly gives you the idea that there will be a remake, or reimagining of something in the works.

I still say bring on Khan.
