X-Men Director Bryan Singer Praises J.J. Abrams New Star Trek Movie

Features

By GustavoLeao / 01:43, 14 June 2009 / Star Trek: Nemesis

CANOE JAM posted a brief interview with X-Men and Superman Returns director Bryan Singer in which he talks about the new Star Trek movie and here are excerpts.

"I thought he [J.J. Abrams] did an incredible job, but you know, I was the fan. I'm more a fan of the original show than all the others, even though I made a couple of movies with (The Next Generation's) Patrick Stewart." said Singer, who did a cameo as an Enterprise-E bridge officer in Nemesis (see photo)

"So I would have loved to have made that movie. I talked to J.J. about this not long ago, before I saw the film, and of course he's not an old Trek fan like I was. And I sometimes wonder if my fandom would have been a detriment to how I made the film. When I made the X-Men films, I was not an X-Men aficionado, which upset a lot of fans going in, but it was the right move. And I think J.J. took the same approach."

I liked what Singer did with X-Men and X 2, but... | Report this post to moderator

The guy's work on "Valkyrie" shows how much he pales in comparison to Behr and Moore. The fact that he likes this pile of garbage shows his poor taste and laziness in not checking out DS9, which is so obviously superior.

Frack off, Singer. Go make another mediocre film.

Mr Singer is a great director (still thinks that he should have directed Nemesis) but I think Mr Abrams should direct Star Trek XII and XIII, just like George Lucas directed the three Star Wars prequels. In my opinion, Mr Abrams stays as director of the new Star Trek.

It's soooooo obvious that Bryan Singer is a paid plant of JJ Abrams/Paramount. Any TRUE Star Trek fan would know that this movie is TEH SUXXORS b/c William Shatner isn't the star.

WHY didn't Singer direct a TNG movie? | Report this post to moderator

Abrams' movie proves what I have been saying for years: give people a quality product, and they will support a Star Trek movie. It really frustrates me that a very good director was literally hanging around the set of these movies but wasn't directing.

If Abrams decides he does not want to direct the next movie then I think the next best choice is Bryan Singer and Abrams can produce & help out.
