IDW publisher Chris Ryall revealed in his blog more of their plans for their Star Trek comic book line in 2009. IDW will be publishing a trade paperback omnibus of the entire first series of Marvel Comics' Star Trek The Original Series comic books (minus the Star Trek The Motion Picture adaptation) and another trade paperback omnibus of the entire Star Trek Early Voyages comics series, featuring the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike and the Enterprise crew from The Cage.

Here is the new cover artwork from the TOS collection by artist Zach Howard, who will also be making the cover for the Early Voyages omnibus.

More info and a larger version of the black-and-white cover artwork can be found here.

Why skip the TMP adaptation? It wasn't a separate special issue, it was the first three issues of the book.

Does this mean that IDW will get the original author to finish the "Early Voyages" story that was cut off halfway through?

In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock.

Political tags-such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth-are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire.
