I read news of her passing today, Dec. 18. Bless you, Mrs. Roddenberry, and thank you.
I'm so glad you got to be part Star Trek's new era in this film.

Speaking of Federation computer voices, when TNG started, weren't all the ships and stations supposed to each possess a computer with a different voice? In 11001001 (or whatever it was called!) the Federation space station had a male computer voice.

Cool, a character from TOS who isn't being recast, the ship's computer. I disagree, though, with the poster below who wants her to do the... fake... robot...voice... from... sixties... does... not... compute... Will... Robinson. Her TNG era voice is fine, maybe with a little post-production electonic quality to it. Not too muchy, though. If you can't recognize her voice, there would be no point.

Really pleased to hear this! :)
So Majel gets to keep her record. Being credited in all ST series and movies.

TREY PARKER: And it comes from an honest belief we have, which is... George Bush doesn't know what's going on. Michael Moore does not know what's going on. And Alec Baldwin definitely does not know what's going on. Basically, this shit is gigantically complicated.
What a cool tip of the hat to the original...

No you wouldn't have, don't lie. In fact the statement you made before this, "I never even thought about this." means that it never crossed your mind and you wouldn't haev even blinked when you heard a different voice. So dramatic for just a little bit of attention on a forum...

I hope it's not the same voice as post-TNG. The one from TOS was highly mechanical and had little female inflection --- except for that one ep. when the computer was "attracted" to Kirk.
I hope her voice is altered to be similar to the TOS version, and NOT the TNG one.
Of course the Shatnerites will use this as another excuse to get up in arms, but it makes sense for them to use Majel for the computer voice and it's fitting that Gene's wife would be involved in the relaunch. Question will be whether they'll have her do the same robotic voice as in TOS or the more humanlike voice she used for the computers in TNG and later.

Peter: Have you been out on the streets lately? Do you know how weird it is out there? We've taken our own head count. There seems to be three million completely miserable assholes living in the tristate area.
Hardemeyer: Oh please.
Peter: I beg your pardon. Three million...and one.
