Isn't it supposed to be Captain William T. Troi? :P
There will be no television series featuring Sulu on the Excelsior OR Riker on the Titan. Neither are feasable as network shows these days and at best? You might hope for the slim chance of a TV movie for Riker and Co. whilest riding the spike in popularity the franchise will likely get from the new film(s).

Has anyone considered doing TNG-era fan films?
I am sure many people have, but there is one minor caveat. The sets. I think it is far more difficult to create TNG-era sets for a film production on a small budget. Is it doable? Of course, but the sets would be very expensive to make and you wouldn't be able to reuse them as much. TOS was cater-made for low budget film production and thats what makes it so inviting for these fan-productions to churn out episodes with near the same quality as NBC did 40 years ago. With TNG fan films, you'd either need a very wealthy backer or a LOT of blue screen -- of course then your films would look like a video game or any George Lucas film made after 1997 :)

I would absolutely love to see Jonathan Frakes as Riker again. No reserevations there. However, good the new venture is, STAR TREK TNG and its entire cast was a total joy to watch in almost every episode. A few awkward ones the first year or so as they found their way, none bad, and after that, I thought it was flawless. Sure, I liked the first ST, but I loved TNG and Riker was always one of the best in it.
The new Trek looks good so far - lets hope those who anquish over every dot that might have a different shape don't prevail... but, whether it has great success or not, I'd love to see Captain Riker again and whomever else from TNG. Jordy, Deana Troi, Worf, (Data if somehow he got rezzed and they found a way to account for his having aged.LOL!), Beverly...
I do get tired of the constant cynicism. When someone jumps out to say, if they really were serious, that Frakes just wanted more $, really, give it a break. I think that says more about the person who said that than anything else.
All my opinion of course. Just how I feel and remember STAR TREK:TNG a really great series on TV and film.

All the fan films seem to be focusing on TOS-era or TOS Movie-era Trek. Has anyone considered doing TNG-era fan films? That might be the only way we'll get any return appearances by the TNG-era cast. Paramount has pretty much closed the book on that era by going back to the beginning.

Would'nt it be cool though to see Frakes one more time in uniform?
As long as it's not on a holodeck on someone else's show!
Oops, sorry. This was a reply to Beamer, below.

It was a good run for William T Riker, but sadly, we have seen all we are going to see if Captain Riker.
Hopefully (and I doubt he will be this way) - we won't be treated to 15 years of sour grapes that we don't have a Captain Riker series in the same way we have had the Captain Sulu nonsense for so long. The irony of course would be that Frakes's Riker would work as a captain and where Takei just wouldn't work in a lead role.
Another irony of course would be if we get to New Trek IV, and Cho's Sulu is given a captaincy!

Just pitch your own Titan show to CBS, dude.

"...I think it would be wonderful years from now to see Star Trek come back with an equally talented new cast playing Spock and Kirk and Bones and Scotty and all the rest, as they say tomorrow's things to tomorrow's generations..." - Gene Roddenberry
I for one would love to see TNG continue in some form with Captain Riker. But I don't see how it will. The new AbramsTrek will have a different tone and a new TNG series would not have that tone. So... the studio would not want to have two Treks going on with different "feels" to them.
If they did do a Titan series, It would have to have a similar feel or tone as the new AbramsTrek. I would not want to see TNG type stories spiced up for the non-fan audience. It just wouldn't be in the same spirit. And that IS a bad thing for TNG stories.
