TrekMovie.com posted excerpts from a taped video interview with Star Trek star Chris Pine, the new Kirk, show Thursday at the San Diego Comic Con. Here are few excerpts of their report.

"I will be playing James T. Kirk in the new Star Trek that comes out in May of next year." Pine said "I really hope it is received well and will do well. All I can say is that we did our best and we had a lot of fun and will give people a good two hours in an air conditioned dark room."

Regarding his role in the movie 3D animated movie Quantum Quest, Pine said "The interesting trivia is that William Shatner, the O.G. original James T. Kirk, is playing ‘the Core' in movie and I have a small scene in the beginning where the core kind of surprises me and The Core is essentially God. So Bill, Mr. Shatner, hello."

The pine trees that Property Master Joe Longo secured for Star Trek III: The Search For Spock certainly provided shade and comfort for the cast while they were filming the Genesis Planet scenes.

Trivia: Shatner co-starred with Chris' father, Robert Pine, in Incident on a Dark Street (1973).

Robert Pine, who was a regular on the CHiPs TV series, had Star Trek guest appearances as Vulcan captain Tavin in ENT "Fusion" and as Akritirian ambassador Liria in VOY "The Chute."

That's too funny that Pine is finding himself doing a cartoon with the Shat. I wonder if anyone involved in that show will be on the ball and capitalize on this.
