Corridor Image From New Intel Star Trek Movie Website

Features

By GustavoLeao / 06:04, 24 July 2008 / Feature Films

Intel has created a new website related to the J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie, in which you can download last week's Comic Con poster. The site also features an image of a starship corridor, which looks like a corridor of the Enterprise NX-01 from Star Trek Enterprise.

The image is rendered in CGI and may not be related to the Star Trek movie - only time will tell.

You can find a larger version of the image here.

We already know what the corridors of the revamped Enterprise looks like.

Had we not forgotten this image, then Intel's CGI prank would not have been treated as "possible fact". ;)

So it is clear this Intel thing is bullshit -- like the toy glider, another chance to blue ball fans with nothing really authentic.

What about the corridor shot that was revealed early on at startrekmovie.com? Isn't that the corridor design and therefore, old news?

Looks like Intel is using a photo from the NX-01 set. The bulkhead panel labels are in the same positions, as well as every lamp in the corridor, and the door handles...

They're definitely very similar. If this is an actual corridor from the movie, then at least the design will fit in well with the NX-01 lineage.

Even the Remastered Trek hasn't gone so far as to physically change the interior of the 1701, so it'll be interesting to see what happens to fandom if this ends up being a revision to the TOS designs.

Personally, I think what's going to happen is Trek fandom WILL accept the new Trek -- but as an "alternate timeline"/"alternate universe" Trek, not as canon with the 1960s series and what came later. Sort of like how some fans are already treating the Enterprise series.
