Quote from Alex Kurtzman:
"Nero isn't necessarily a Romulan. It's all part of the plot."
Nero looks more Klingon than Romulan, which jibes with Anton Yelchin's spill about an encounter with Qo'noS bruisers: "J.J.'s trying to shoot as much of it as he can without green screen, but I think a lot of space is obviously green screen -- what I'm looking at while seeing the Klingon warships."

Why does he keep jerking us around like this? Why doesn't he just publish the real script for all of us to read and pass judgement on ahead of time? If he respected the fans he'd show us all his cards upfront. I know I'd feel much better knowing I was right to distrust him and have the next 9 months to build a specific case against the movie.
:)
"Nero isn't necessarily a Romulan"
Okay, Alex, now you got me officially confused. Thank you.

"Nero isn't necessarily a Romulan," Kurtzman said, but wouldn't give anything further than that. He simply smiled and said, "It's all part of the plot."
Just like Shinzon "wasn't necessarily" Reman. Interesting.
