Pine doesn't look much like Shatner's Kirk, but Jeebus H. Christie! Quinto is dead-on perfect as a young Nimoy.

You get a much sharper view of Nero's features (he's hideous, look away!)

Star Trek: Romulans - Hollow Crown #1 (of 2)

He sure doesn't look Romulan though.
These posters are fantastic. I already knew Zach Quinto looked just like Spock, but I'm amazed at how much Chris Pine looks like Kirk. These pics are spot-on! Zoe Saldanna looks hot and Eric Bana as Nero looks oh-so-badass. I would not fuck with that guy. The tats are a very nice touch, and I don't miss the weird forehead-bones one bit. I never liked those, anyway.
The posters look fantastic. All the characters look great. And check out Nero. He is bad ass. WAY better than the look of the Rommies in NEM. A MILLION times better. Kirk looks excellent. This is the best pic of Pine we've seen.
And I'm not sure why everyone's talking about a Romulan ridge. There's nothing on Nero's forehead.
Finally, they've erased that inconsistency that TNG used! The Rommies and the Vulcans look the same.
I'm wondering about Nero's ear. I think it might be a battle scar, like the one on the top of his head. Man, I'm a geek.
In its report about this new movie poster, E! Online includes a quote from Abrams that sheds some light on what he means by saying there's a TOS "kitsch" that ST:XI won't hold on to...
"We all have the iPhone, which does more than the [Star Trek] communicator," Abrams said. "There's a kind of kitschy quality that must go, if it's going to be something you believe is real. Our Star Trek is not parody."
Aha, the gadgets will better represent what we now know can be done with microcircuits. Gotcha, JJ.
Abrams is an Apple fanatic, but his specific mention of the iPhone does tie into a rumor from several months back: "Rumor Mill : Star Trek Movie Using iPhone As Starfleet Communicator ?"

All this focus on the pointed ears has me thinking.
Pointed ears? Isn't the topic of this post Scarlett Johansson and the first two seasons of Mission Impossible being available on DVD?

All this focus on the pointed ears has me thinking. Usually they're just there and they're comforting in a way to the fans and all, but if you think of Star Trek from the outside looking in--as a means of herding the skeptical along to play in this kitchy world--focusing more emphasis to the iconic pointed ears of Star Trek--ripped off, pointing proudly, what have you--might have the ironic effect of disarming the skeptic.

Battlestar Galactica: Ghosts #1 (of 4)

Bana looks more like a WWF thug than a Star Trek villain...
...if I look at Nero's ear real carefully? It might still be pointed after all. It just looks like snow, or fur, or something is piled up on top of it that hides the point? Or maybe someone just went Hellboy on him and his points were clipped. :P

I didn't even recognize Bana. He looks rather different for a Romulan. Wonder what the tattoos are all about...and the mangled ear...is he a former slave I wonder? Or perhaps a criminal?

Loved the Pine as Kirk and Quinto as Spock posters. And Bana as Nero looks awesome and menacing. Good stuff.

Eric Bana as the Romulan villain Nero.
Looks like Nero got his ears caught in a mechanical rice-picker.
Nero's forehead has a raised temporal-line that's more Klingon than Romulan. Possibly a mixed breed of Human, Klingon, and Romulan (or Reman)?

Mission: Impossible - Season 5 with Leonard Nimoy

As far as teaser posters go, these look really good. I can see Kirk in Pine; Quinto has the Vulcan stare down pat, Saldana looks great (love the eyes) and Nero looks...interesting; definitely not your typical Romulan and I have no problem with that at all. Great posters, they definitely make me want to see more.
OK, that's amazing I just watched the teaser trailer again, then jumped over here just in time to see that these were up. Oh yeah! I can't wait for this movie!
Nero looks bad-ass!
