Nov 06 | J.J. Abrams is in talks to direct the opening episode of "Undercovers," his Warner Bros. secret agent pilot at NBC. Schedule permitting, Abrams, who also serves as executive producer and co-writer for the pilot, will make "Undercovers" the first TV pilot he has directed since 2004's "Lost" two-part opener, which is considered one of the best-directed pilots of all time and helped launch Abrams' career into helming such theatrical films as "Mission: Impossible 3" and "Star Trek." The NBC pilot has been described as a mix between "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "The Bourne Identity." The original report is at the Hollywood Reporter.

Oct 27 | Leonard Nimoy narrates a new documentary about a historic synagogue designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The film profiles Beth Sholom Synagogue in Elkins Park, Pa., the only synagogue designed by the renowned architect. The building, a National Historic Landmark, celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Oct 27 | Leonard Nimoy is celebrating Halloween by taking pictures of the most crazily outfitted attendee at the Santa Monica Museum of Art's Halla Gala. The latest issue of Star Trek Magazine, out in the U.S. and the U.K., features a new interview with actor Simon Pegg, the new Scotty. Here are more excerpts from the article, cortesy of Sci Fi Pulse.
When asked the extent of his knowledge on Star Trek the actor admitted unashamedly that he has been a life long fan of the series.
"Obviously I watched the Original Series when I was a kid, and I knew The Next Generation well enough to know all the characters. I watched quite a few episodes, and I was a big Seven Of Nine fan when Voyager came out. Certainly, I was pretty familiar with it."
When asked about researching the role, the actor vehemently reassured that he has done his home work and doesn't intend to do an impersonation of Scotty as done by James Doohan.
"One thing I wanted to do was make the performance pretty much a tribute to James Doohan but I didn't want to impersonate him in any way, because I didn't want it to look like that. It's important that this film has no parodic element - it's a very straight film, and a none - ironic Trek movie. Obviously, it's walking a tightrope because it's going back in time a little bit to the original characters, so the tendency might have been to watch Jim Doohan and try to ape him. I personally didn't, I just drew on my memories and affection for the show."
