J.J. Abrams Says New Star Trek Movie is More than a Prequel

Features

By GustavoLeao / 06:28, 9 May 2008 / Feature Films

The latest issue of Rolling Stones magazine features a brief interview with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams. Here are few excerpts of the interview.

What is in store for your upcoming Star Trek movie ?

It looks at the formation of the core characters from Star Trek, so it serves as a prequel, but it is also more than that.

Which summer movie are you excited about ?

Definitely The X-Files.

Do you think Mulder and Scully will finally end up together ?

Good relationships shouldn't be this hard. If they don't end up together this time, I quit.

A scan of the full interview can be found here.

Come on, JJ, it's time for an "Amazing!" kitschy poster for ST:XI, a la Forbidden Planet: A fainted babe in the arms of a savage alien creature, with Kirk to the rescue.

Why Vista's DRM Is Bad For You: "Vista continuously spends CPU time monitoring itself, trying to figure out if you're doing something that it thinks you shouldn't. If it does, it limits functionality and in extreme cases restarts the video subsystem. We still don't know the exact details of all this, and how far-reaching it is, but it doesn't look good.

"Microsoft put all those functionality-crippling features into Vista because it wants to own the entertainment industry."

I think it is cool that a magazine like Rolling Stones is doing an (small) article on Abrams and Trek. I think this sort of coverage never happened in the Rick Berman era, I guess.

Hey, that's why 'Who's the Boss?' worked for so many years! They kept the sexual tension between Tony and Angela going until the end. It's been 17 years for Mulder and Scully though.. f*ck the bee sting crap, do it already!
