AP also posted a new video interview with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams, in which he again promotes the DVD release of Cloverfield, and of course, talks a bit about the Star Trek movie. Here are few excerpts of the video interview, cortesy of TrekMovie.

"[...] Though I would never be saying that about a movie like Star Trek which is a huge, epic, massive film, the idea of Cloverfield is this terrifying experience captured on video tape." said Abrams "So when you watch it on your television it actually feels like it is being viewed properly."

"We wrapped production on Star Trek last week and we are editing now. It was the most exciting, challenging, but satisfying experience. The cast is spectacular. The movie is so much fun. I am just dying for you to see it."

More excerpts from Abrams can be found at TrekMovie.

The full video interview is here.

That's a fair point. I feel better now.

I haven't actually been so eager to see a Trek movie since TMP. Everything just feels right about this effort. The cast & crew, the pics that have leaked out, the plot details. I'm feeling quite optimistic that I'll be enjoying myself for two hours when this is released.

...Pretty much everyone said it was a "terrific script". So why aren't they saying it's a terrific movie?

Umm, maybe because noone has actually seen the movie yet? Wrapping filming doesn't complete the film guys..

I have the feeling now that the Star Trek movie is getting a bit over inflated.

You mean everyone involved with the picture is praising it and saying how great it is going to be? Is that a bad thing? Would you rather have the actors bitch and moan, and be uninterested alltogether?

I think there is absolutely no way to make anyone happy on here, hehe.. insanity :)

Cloverfield was not a bad movie but was not great either. Perhaps it might be better from the perspective of my living room sofa? I guess I'll find out when I rent the movie, not buy yet.

I have the feeling now that the Star Trek movie is getting a bit over inflated. I'm just worried our, or my, expectations are going to be so high that the best movie will not live up to them. Is it just me or are others bracing for some sort of a letdown as well? Ok, it's probably just me.

We should take nothing for granted. "Frank O'Connor, the Irish writer, tells in one of his books how, as a boy, he and his friends would make their way across the countryside, and when they came to an orchard wall that seemed too high and too doubtful to try and too difficult to permit their voyage to continue, they took off their hats and tossed them over the wall--and then they had no choice but to follow them. This Nation has tossed its cap over the wall of space, and we have no choice but to follow it. Whatever the difficulties, they will be overcome. I keep hearing everyone associated with the movie say it's "huge", it's "fun", it's "not your father's Star Trek", etc. But why aren't they saying it's a great movie? Pretty much everyone said it was a "terrific script". So why aren't they saying it's a terrific movie?

I'm just being nervous out loud. We've got a year to fret. Will it ever be able to live up to the build up? Sigh.
