George Takei Will Not Appear in the New Star Trek Prequel Movie

Features

By GustavoLeao / 21:09, 26 February 2008 / Feature Films

According to Aint it Cool News, TOS actor George Takei has hinted on the Howard Stern talk show that he may be reuniting with Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy for the J.J. Abrams new Star Trek movie.

According to report in several websites, today on Howard Stern's Sirius radios show, Takei told Howard that he had met with J.J. Abrams over lunch. When asked if he was going to be in the new Star Trek film, Takei said "no comment,"

But TrekMovie.com reports that Takei isn't in the movie. Here is a transcript of their report.

"TrekMovie.com has talked to sources and Mr. Takei himself to get to the truth. The answer is NO"

"The report on AICN states that Takei "recently had lunch with J.J. Abrams," however Mr. Takei tells TrekMovie.com that it was actually a breakfast last fall before filming began on the project. Takei would not go into details about his talk with Abrams because "the whole conversation is privileged," however the actor did express concern over how not commenting has been "turned into an affirmation" that he will appear in the new Star Trek movie.

"According to multiple sources connected to the film, George Takei will not appear in the new Star Trek. The film makers are fans of Takei's, but he just doesn't fit into the story they are telling."

The AICN report can be found here.

I am surprised nobody has said this so .....

What, no Captain Sulu in this flick? I'm shocked!

How many times has it been "confirmed" that Takei is not in this film? I am sure their will be more confirmations because the previous ones were just teasers. Good grief!

Also, Merrit Buttrick (sp?) is not going to be in the movie either. However, as I recently heard, Square Pegs is coming out on DVD. Will that suffice?

So how long before we get similar news items stating that Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, Grace Lee Whitney and, for good measure, Deforest Kelly and james Doohan aren't in the film, too?

The only way for Takei to appear would be if the Nimoy segments aren't TNG era at all, but post-movie era.

Who really cares if he is in this movie? I really doubt that he will bring the movie 10 dollars...let alone 10 million dollars.
